The other day I had a customer come to the desk and check out. I was drooling over her mini golden doodle, which was her service dog. He was such a good boy, I wanted to just clock out and go outside and play with him!
But after the transaction, she had left this card face down on the counter, and I said “mam’ you forgot this!” And her response was, “no I didn’t, that’s yours” with the most gentle smile I’ve seen on someone in a long time. As I flipped over the card, I was in such awe. Squealing to whoever was around me how cool it was that she had this & gave it to me.
Flash forward to today: I had completely forgot about it until I was walking to publix to pick up some veggies. I reached into my bag to grab my phone because someone had texted me, I pulled this out. I looked up and I realized this moment was meant to happen. I just felt so at peace. I looked around the lake and everyone was enjoying the day. I felt like the world seemed less scary.
Life gets so crazy sometimes.
Some days you don’t know if you’re actually doing shit right or just on a crash course to disaster. Sometimes we need someone to remind us we aren’t crazy, or that we are doing just fine.
In that moment, I felt I was were I needed to be.
So to the lady, this is for you.
This quote from “Perks of being a wallflower” popped into my head.
I hope this brings a smile to your faces, I know it did to mine. I will be passing this card forward..
“This one moment when you know you’re not a sad story. You are alive. And you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you’re listening to that song, and that drive with the people who you love most in this world. And in this moment, I swear, we are infinite.”
